Semantic Computing (SC) is computing based on semantics—“meaning,” “context,” and “intention.” It addresses all types of resources, including data, documents, tools, devices, processes, and people. The scope of SC includes analytics, semantic description languages and integration, interfaces, and applications.

The Institute for Semantic Computing (ISC) is established with a clear mission: to transform real-world use cases into fundamental theories and advanced technologies that enable new products, improved efficiency, and reduced costs.

The recent success of large language models (LLMs) represents a significant milestone in AI. However, the field’s full potential is still unfolding and will depend on advances in—and the integration of—modern AI, classical AI, and core computer science across multiple dimensions. Artificial Intelligence x NEXT (AIxNEXT), part of ISC, is dedicated to defining, developing, and deploying the next generation of AI technologies, products, and services.
